Itinerary outline
Zhangjiajie’s dramatic landscapes include sandstone pillars, forested valleys, natural rock bridges, and mountain viewpoints. Highlights include Golden Whip Creek, the Ten-Mile Gallery, Tianmen Cave, and the glass walkway. The scenery is best appreciated in person, with time to explore its different perspectives.
Wulingyuan combines Zhangjiajie National Forest Park with the scenic areas of Tianzi Mountain and Suoxiyu. Its sandstone pillars, wooded valleys, natural bridges, caves, lakes, and waterfalls create one of China’s most distinctive landscapes. Wulingyuan was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992.
Explore Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in the Wulingyuan Scenic Area. Forested sandstone pillars, rocky peaks, streams, and waterfalls create its distinctive landscape. Discover highlights such as Huangshizhai and Golden Whip Stream while following paths through the park’s lush valleys.
Follow Golden Whip Stream through Zhangjiajie’s forested valleys. Rocky peaks, footbridges, and distinctive formations create changing views along the walking route.
Zhangjiajie folk songs and dances have distinctive local styles and local charm, and are full of variety and excitement. There are local characteristics of high lanterns dance, the Bai proud of the war drums and stool dragons, the most influential large-scale dance of the Tujia family hand-waving dance, the dance of the "Tulku", and the dance of the "Tulku". The three drums are popular among the Han, Bai and Tujia ethnic groups, especially the Bai people, who love the nine whips ("god whips") and the Melodic and fast-paced mulberry folk songs.
Marriage customs are interesting and amusing. Tujia marriage customs are humorous and interesting, while Bai marriage customs are "stereotypical" and "the order of the parents, the words of the matchmaker" are prevalent. There are also talk ("marriage negotiation"), fate (commonly known as taking a number), kissing, "make-up", "send", "round", "see size". , "back to the door", etc.

Protect the travel days
Review the full hotel-to-hotel transfer for every intercity leg. Avoid relying on a flight or train arriving early enough for a tightly timed major attraction unless the final schedule supports it.

Confirm stairs, slopes and time on foot. Ask which optional visits can be shortened or removed, and where an additional night would make the biggest difference.
