Detailed itinerary

Day 1 · Gubeikou, Jinshanling and camp

Beijing departure: Meet your guide and driver, then travel to the Gubeikou trailhead. Gubeikou walk: Follow the unrestored ridge and learn why the pass mattered in the defense of Beijing. Jinshanling transition: Continue toward the more substantial watchtowers of Jinshanling and break for a meal. Jiankou transfer: Drive to the designated Jiankou-area camp after the first hike. Evening outdoors: Settle in, dine and enjoy the late light from the approved camp setting.

Day 2 · Jiankou and return

Sunrise and breakfast: Rise early for the mountain view, then eat before packing the gear. Jiankou hike: Explore a selected unrestored section with the guide adjusting for footing and weather. Additional Wall stop: Use remaining time for the agreed second-day section, which may include the Huanghuacheng area. Beijing return: Meet the vehicle and head back after lunch or a trail meal.

Plan the practical details

Confirm the permitted overnight location, tents, sleeping bags, pads, meals, toilet arrangements and weather alternative in your written proposal. The actual sleeping location may be a designated area near the Wall; do not infer permission to camp anywhere from a route photograph.

Hike light

Arrange storage for your main luggage with the route team. Carry a small daypack with water, suitable layers and personal essentials. Confirm whether bags travel by vehicle between overnight stops.
