The route at a glance
A family-oriented two-day plan links Huanghuacheng’s lake views and camping with a Mutianyu visit.
Operated by Great Wall Adventure Club. This route is presented as part of China Travel Collection’s specialist Great Wall selection.

Walking level & suitability
The shorter hikes may suit families with children. We tailor the camp equipment and walking pace to the ages in your group.
Detailed itinerary
Beijing pickup: Travel to the lakeside Wall with the family’s walking pace and gear in mind. Lunch and first walk: Eat locally, then follow a shorter route above the reservoir. Camp preparation: Help everyone settle at the designated campsite before dark. Evening: Enjoy dinner and a relaxed view of the mountains.
Sunrise and breakfast: Watch the early light, eat and pack. Drive to Mutianyu: Reach the visitor area and choose the appropriate ascent. Family tower circuit: Walk a manageable portion of the restored Wall. Return: Descend and head back to Beijing.
Plan the practical details
Confirm the permitted overnight location, tents, sleeping bags, pads, meals, toilet arrangements and weather alternative in your written proposal. The actual sleeping location may be a designated area near the Wall; do not infer permission to camp anywhere from a route photograph.
Arrange storage for your main luggage with the route team. Carry a small daypack with water, suitable layers and personal essentials. Confirm whether bags travel by vehicle between overnight stops.
