Detailed itinerary
Train departure: Travel from Beijing North on the confirmed service. Local arrival: Meet the Gubeikou team and transfer to the village or trailhead. First Wall walk: Explore an accessible old-Wall section and settle into the overnight arrangement. Evening: Eat locally and enjoy the quieter ridge.
Dawn: Rise for the morning light over Gubeikou. Jinshanling hike: Travel to Jinshanling and walk among its towers, with meal and water breaks. Overnight: Stay at the accommodation or camp specified in the final itinerary.
Morning visit: Explore the agreed Simatai-side area and nearby Water Town if accessible. Lunch and connection: Eat and travel to the booked rail or road return point. Beijing arrival: Complete the journey back to the city.
Plan the practical details
Confirm the permitted overnight location, tents, sleeping bags, pads, meals, toilet arrangements and weather alternative in your written proposal. The actual sleeping location may be a designated area near the Wall; do not infer permission to camp anywhere from a route photograph.
Arrange storage for your main luggage with the route team. Carry a small daypack with water, suitable layers and personal essentials. Confirm whether bags travel by vehicle between overnight stops.
